Friend Of Dorothy

‘Friend of Dorothy’ is a coffee table book, exploring a plethora of gay icons throughout history. Showcasing beautiful imagery & quotations from those who have, explicitly or otherwise, been a pillar for the gay community - against a back-drop of discrimination. The book is 90 pages and is spiral bound with an aluminium cover that has ‘Friend of Dorothy’ stamped in the middle. Eight different types of paper were used for the printing.

The book was based on a 6000 word Graphic Arts Research Project, in which I researched and answered the question: 'What role has Graphic Image played in forming the identity of female Gay Icons and their relationship to the Gay Community?'

In addition, I produced a short video in which previews and excerpts from the book can be viewed narrated by elements of Madonna's 'Vogue' - a song which deeply influenced this project.
